Convenient, secure and private: A space to share your thoughts and feelings

How it works
Sessions are provided using online secure platforms that you can rely on. If you’re unsure how to use technology, I have lots of experience and can guide you through getting everything working.
We find a time and date that suits you best, so you get the most out of our sessions.
I encourage all my online clients to live, work or study close enough to York or Wetherby, so we can have an occasional in person session if needed.
Requirements
Working online means we need to ensure a few things are in-place to begin with:
- To get the most out of sessions, I ask you use a laptop with a web camera and microphone.
- Privacy is an important part of therapy. It allows you to feel safe and relaxed to be able to speak freely. Therefore sessions are best if you have somewhere private without any interruptions, like a room at home or work, where you would not be disturbed.
- I offer online sessions to people while they are in the UK. Unfortunately I cannot offer session to people residing in other countries.
The Sessions
Depending on the difficulties you are experiencing, we can work together on a short term or long term basis to ensure you get the support you need.
Initial Appointment
We would meet for an initial 50 minute appointment where I can find out more about you and explain how counselling or therapy would work with me.
Its relaxed and informal, where you will have the opportunity to describe some of the difficulties you are experiencing and ask any questions.
I can work with a range of problems so please get in touch to find out more. At the end of the initial appointment we will make a plan as to what type of counselling or therapy work best suits your needs.

Short Term
Counselling Sessions
I offer around 12 sessions of counselling where we can explore your difficulties and look at ways to improve whats happening in your life. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and I guide you through the sessions, supporting you to talk through whats happening.
We would meet on a regular basis, usually weekly or fortnightly, depending on what we both think is best for you. The type of issues I can help with in this way are life events or specific problems you may be having.
- Stress at work
- Loss or bereavement
- Feeling low in mood, negative thoughts or tearful
- Worrying, racing or ruminating thoughts that concern you and are hard to shake off
- Sleeping difficulties
- Feeling lost, confused, unsure of how you feel
Long Term
Therapy Sessions
I can also offer longer-term therapy where we explore more challenging and deep rooted issues.
Similar to short-term counselling, each session would last for 50 minutes and I guide you through the process. We would meet on a regular weekly or fortnightly basis and with longer-term work this can take a number of months in order to gain a clearer understanding of where some of these issues are coming from.
This may involve looking at ingrained issues and exploring childhood to see how your life has lead to the current challenges you are facing.
- Relationship problems
- Complex bereavement
- Trauma
- Depression
- Self-harm, suicidal thoughts
- Building self-esteem
- Loneliness
- Anger
- Bullying, discrimination
- Anxiety, OCD, panic, phobias
- Concerns around eating habits or weight
- Addictions
- Dissociative experiences
