Therapeutic Approach

Finding the right person to talk to, is always the most important part of any therapy process. There are many different titles for professionals out there from counsellors and therapists to psychotherapists and psychologists.

I am a counsellor and integrative therapist which means I work by listening and talking through issues with people. I draw upon different theories to help support you and integrate psychodynamic, person-centred and existential approaches in my work. This creates a therapeutic process that is tailored specifically to you and your needs.

British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy

One of the ways you can decide on a therapist, is to see if they belong to a professional body. This demonstrates they have undergone a certain level of training and study to support and help people.

I’ve qualified with an accredited British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy (BACP) course, now working as a registered member of the BACP. This means I adhere to their ethical framework and attained a required standard of practice to support you.

Professional Career And Experience

mental health

I’ve developed my private practice over the past four years, offering a therapeutic space for individuals at my offices or online. I offer a individualised therapy service focusing on your specific needs and drawing upon a varied range of experience.

I began my career supporting young people who had challenging thoughts, such as hallucinations or delusions, as well as adults who had experienced various forms of brain injury. This lead on to my passion for supporting people with other difficulties, as I trained as a mental health nurse and working in the NHS. I spent time in various roles supporting people through quite distressing and dark times in their lives, whether that be in mental health hospitals or through recovery in their own homes.

Over the years this passion has been focused and tuned in to working more therapeutically with individuals, leading to my training as a counsellor and integrative therapist.

Being a therapist has allowed me to be involved in many exciting projects and enabled me to work with some interesting organisations. Examples of these has been coordinating a counselling service at a local charity as well as aiding student counsellors develop their therapeutic skills while on a professional training course. I’m always interested in expanding the breath of therapeutic work I do and keen to get involved in local projects.
