Finding the right therapist

Finding the right person to talk to, is always the most important part of any therapy. There are many different titles for therapists out there such as counsellors, CBT therapists, psychotherapists and psychologists.

I am a qualified counsellor and describe my work as “integrative”. This involves drawing upon different theories to help support you.

I integrate humanistic and existential approaches (such as person-centred, transactional analysis and gestalt) alongside psychodynamic understanding, to create a therapeutic process that is tailored specifically to your needs.

British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy which demonstrates I have undergone a high level of training and study. I also means I adhere to their ethical framework and code of practice.

Professional Career And Experience

mental health

I started my private practice in 2020 and have been offering individual therapy ever since. Prior to this I have worked in various roles relating to mental health and built a wealth of experience.

I began my career by supporting young people who had challenging thoughts (such as hallucinations or delusions) as well as adults affected by various forms of brain injury. My passion for supporting people progressed, so I trained as a mental health nurse and worked in the NHS for a number of years. I spent time in various roles helping people through distressing and dark times, both while recovering in their own homes as well as having more intense support at mental health hospitals in London.

Over the years this passion has evolved and I began focussing more on working with people therapeutically. In 2015 I began training as a counsellor at CPPD Counselling School in London and qualified in 2019.

Since then, I have moved back to Yorkshire and started my own therapy practice in Wetherby and York. I have also been involved in various other projects such as coordinating a counselling service at a local charity and offering emotional support sessions to university students, throughout their academic studies. I’m always interested in expanding the breath of my therapeutic work and keen to get involved in further projects.

York and Wetherby

I work from two comfortable rooms in my private practice. One on Wetherby High Street and the other at Clifton Moor in York

Fees

Initial appointments and ongoing therapy sessions cost £50 for 50 minutes. I also offer reduced rates if you are able to commit to weekly sessions over the month
