the right therapist for you

Finding the right person to talk to is always an important part of effective therapy. There are many different titles for therapists out there from counsellors and CBT therapists to psychotherapists and psychologists.

I am a qualified counsellor and describe my work as integrative. This involves drawing upon different theories and approaches to help support you.

I integrate humanistic and existential approaches (such as person-centred, transactional analysis and gestalt) to create a therapeutic process that is tailored specifically to your needs. Alongside this I also use psychodynamic understanding to identify deeper issues and explore their meaning.

British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy. This involves demonstrating a high level of training and study as well as adhering to an ethical framework provided by the professional body.

Professional Career And Experience

mental health

I started my private practice in 2020 and have been offering individual therapy ever since. Prior to this I have worked in various roles relating to mental health and built a wealth of experience over time.

I began my career supporting young people who had challenging thoughts (such as hallucinations or delusions) as well as adults affected by various forms of brain injury. My passion for supporting people progressed, so I trained as a mental health nurse and worked in the NHS for a number of years. I spent time in various roles, helping people through distressing and dark times, both in mental health hospitals and while recovering in their own homes.

Over the years this passion has evolved as I began to focus more on working with people therapeutically. In 2015 I began training as a counsellor at CPPD Counselling School in London and qualified in 2019.

Since then, I have moved back to Yorkshire and started my own therapy practice in Wetherby and York.

Alongside my private practice, I have also been involved in various other projects. Examples include coordinating a counselling service at a local charity in York and delivering emotional support sessions to university students. I’m always interested in expanding the breath of my therapeutic work and keen to get involved in future projects.

York and Wetherby

I work from two comfortable rooms in my private practice. One on Wetherby High Street and the other at Clifton Moor in York

Fees

Initial appointments and ongoing therapy sessions cost £50 for 50 minutes. I also offer reduced rates if you are able to commit to weekly sessions over the month
