How it works

Getting Started

Working online means we need to ensure a few things are in-place to begin with:

  • To get the most out of sessions, I ask you use a laptop with a web camera and microphone.
  • Privacy is an important part of therapy. It allows you to feel safe and relaxed to be able to speak freely. Therefore sessions are best if you have somewhere private without any interruptions, like a room at home or work, where you would not be disturbed.
  • Our sessions will need to take place while you are residing in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately I am unable to offer therapy to anyone while they are outside of the UK.

Initial Appointment

We would meet for an initial 50 minute appointment where I can find out more about you and explain how counselling or therapy would work with me online. This is also an opportunity for you to explain what you are looking for at therapy and explain the difficulties you are experiencing.

Short Term Counselling or Long term Therapy

We would begin by arranging to meet on a regular basis, usually weekly or fortnightly, depending on what we both think is best for you. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and I guide you through the sessions, supporting you to talk through whats happening.

I offer around 12 sessions of counselling to address a specific problem or we can use therapy over a number of months to explore more complex issues that need more time to work through.

  • Loss or bereavement
  • Feeling low in mood, negative thoughts or tearful
  • Worry, racing or ruminating thinking where your concerns are hard to shake off
  • Sleeping difficulties
  • Feeling lost, confused, unsure of how you feel
  • Relationship problems
  • Loneliness
  • Building self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Bullying, discrimination
  • Anxiety, OCD, panic, phobias


Initial appointments and ongoing counselling or therapy sessions cost £50 for 50 minutes. I also offer reduced rates if you are able to commit to weekly sessions over the month

If you are thinking of seeing someone in-person, I also work from two comfortable rooms in my private practice. One on Wetherby High Street and the other at Clifton Moor in York
